We look after it
DevOps
Automated build and release pipelines, so deployments are quick, repeatable and drama-free.
What we set up
Everything needed to get changes from a developer's machine to your live site safely.
-
Source control
All your code held in Git, with every change on its own branch and reviewed before it's merged.
-
Automated builds
Every change is built automatically, so problems show up before anything is deployed.
-
Staging first
Changes go to a staging site for you to check before anything goes live.
-
Approved releases
Live releases wait for sign-off, then deploy at the push of a button.
-
Seamless rollbacks
If a release isn't right, we switch back to the previous one in moments, with minimal downtime for your visitors.
-
Checked after release
Confirmation when a deployment finishes, followed by checks on the live site.
How a change goes live
-
Reviewed
A technical lead reviews every change before it's merged.
-
Tested on staging
The change deploys to staging automatically for testing and your review.
-
Released
Once you approve it, the release goes live and the live site is checked.
DevOps questions
Anything else? Ask us directly.
Can you set this up for a site you didn't build?
Yes. It's often one of the first things we do when we take over a site from another supplier.
What happens if a release goes wrong?
We roll back. Every release keeps the previous one ready to switch back to, so if something isn't right we're back to the last working version in moments, with minimal downtime, then fix the problem properly before releasing again.
Which tools do you use?
Usually Azure DevOps pipelines with Git hosting such as Bitbucket. If you already have tools you prefer, we'll work with them.
Does it work if we host the site ourselves?
Yes. Pipelines can deploy to Microsoft Azure, our own UK servers or your own hosting.
Releases causing stress? Let's make them drama-free.
